What is LoudUp?

LoudUp is a free online volume booster for audio that is too quiet. Drop in an MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG, AAC, FLAC or Opus file and LoudUp measures it, showing the loudest point and the average level in decibels. Then it raises the volume and saves a louder copy.

There are two ways to make audio louder. Auto (normalize) lifts the whole file until its loudest moment sits just under full volume. Pick a boost lets you add 1 to 12 dB yourself. Either way, a soft limiter rounds off the peaks so the result doesn't crackle or clip.

Play a 10-second preview before you export, then save as MP3 or WAV. Everything runs in your browser, so recordings of lectures, meetings and voice notes are never uploaded. Try it without an account; saving needs a free ToolClik account.

What you can do

  • One-click normalize

Auto mode raises the whole file by the same amount until the loudest point is just below full volume.

  • Boost up to 12 dB

Choose your own boost from +1 to +12 dB when you want more punch than normalizing gives.

  • Soft limiter against crackle

Boosted peaks are rounded off smoothly instead of being cut flat, which keeps loud parts clean.

  • See the levels

LoudUp shows the current peak and average level, and the exact boost it will apply, in dB.

  • Hear it first

Play 10 seconds of the boosted audio before you save, so you know it sounds right.

  • MP3 or WAV

Save MP3 at 128 or 192 kbps (320 kbps on Pro), or a WAV file.

How to use Volume Booster

  1. Drop an audio file
  2. Normalize or pick a boost
  3. Listen, then download

  • Boosting a podcast clip before you share it

Questions about Volume Booster

Is this volume booster free?

Yes. Free boosts files up to 50 MB and saves MP3 at up to 192 kbps or WAV, with no watermark. You save the louder file with a free ToolClik account. Pro, at $1.29 a month, takes files up to 2 GB and adds 320 kbps MP3.

How much louder can it make my audio?

Pick a boost goes up to +12 dB. Auto mode raises the file as far as it can go before the loudest point reaches full volume, so how much it adds depends on the recording.

Will boosting the volume cause distortion?

LoudUp uses a soft limiter that gently rounds off peaks above about −2 dB, so loud parts don't crackle. A big boost on a file that is already loud can still sound squashed, so use the preview first.

What does normalize mean?

Normalizing turns the whole file up by the same amount so its loudest point sits just below full volume. Quiet and loud parts keep the same balance, just louder.

Can I boost the volume of a video?

LoudUp works on audio files. To make a video's sound louder, first pull out the audio with the free MP4 to MP3 tool, then boost that file.

Are my files uploaded?

No. LoudUp measures and boosts your audio in your browser, on your own device. The file is never sent to ToolClik.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. LoudUp runs in phone browsers such as Chrome and Safari, including the 10-second preview.
