ClipSqueeze

Free Online Video Compressor

Make a video file much smaller by lowering its resolution and bitrate. Pick a size and a quality, see the estimated file size, and download an MP4 or WebM. It all happens in your browser, so the video is never uploaded.

What is ClipSqueeze?

ClipSqueeze is a free online video compressor that makes big videos small enough to send. Drop in an MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV or M4V file, pick a size and a quality, and ClipSqueeze shows roughly how big the new file will be before you start. It is handy for WhatsApp, email attachments and upload limits.

It shrinks a video by lowering its resolution to 1080p, 720p, 480p or 360p and by saving it at a lower bitrate. Choose High, Balanced or Smallest quality, keep the sound, make it lighter or remove it, and save an MP4 or a WebM, depending on what your browser can make.

The video is compressed in your browser and never uploaded. ClipSqueeze re-records it while it plays, so it takes about as long as the video itself; keep the tab open until it finishes. No watermark is ever added.

What you can do

  • See the size first

Before you start, ClipSqueeze estimates the new file size next to the current one, so you can adjust the settings.

  • Pick the resolution

Keep the original size or choose 1080p, 720p, 480p or 360p. Only sizes smaller than your video are offered.

  • Three quality levels

High keeps the most detail, Balanced is a good middle ground, and Smallest squeezes the file hardest.

  • Keep, lighten or remove the sound

Keep the sound at 128 kbps, make it lighter at 64 kbps, or remove it to save more space.

  • MP4 or WebM

Chrome, Edge and Safari can save MP4, which plays everywhere. WebM is often smaller, and it is what Firefox saves.

  • Private, no watermark

The video never leaves your device, and the smaller copy has no logo on it.

Questions about Video Compressor

Is this video compressor free?

Yes. Free compresses videos up to 50 MB with no watermark. You save the smaller video with a free ToolClik account. Pro, at $1.29 a month, takes videos up to 2 GB.

How long does it take to compress a video?

About as long as the video plays: a 3-minute video takes about 3 minutes. Keep the tab open while it works; you can cancel at any time.

How much smaller will my video get?

It depends on the video. Large, high-resolution files usually shrink the most, and ClipSqueeze shows an estimate before you start. If a video was already well compressed, it tells you so and suggests a smaller size or quality.

Will the video lose quality?

Some, because a smaller file holds less detail. Pick High quality and a larger size when looks matter most, or Smallest and 480p when only the file size counts.

Will I get an MP4 or a WebM?

Chrome, Edge and Safari can save MP4, which plays on almost every phone and computer. Firefox saves WebM. If your browser can make both, you choose.

Is my video uploaded?

No. ClipSqueeze compresses the video in your browser, on your own device. It is never sent to ToolClik.

Can I compress a video on my phone?

It works best on a computer. In an up-to-date phone browser it may work too, but the screen must stay on and the tab open for the whole length of the video.
