What is HueGrab?

HueGrab is a free color palette generator that works from your own pictures. Drop in a photo, artwork or screenshot and it pulls out the main colours, ordered by how much of the picture each one covers. Click any swatch to copy its HEX code.

Choose 4, 6 or 8 colours on Free, or 12 and 16 with Pro. Every swatch shows its HEX code, its RGB values and its share of the image. Copy the whole list of HEX codes at once, or copy the palette as ready-to-use CSS variables for your website.

Your picture is read in your web browser and never uploaded, and there is no file to save: you copy the colours straight away. It's a quick way to match brand colours, build a moodboard or pick slide colours that go with a photo.

What you can do

  • The real main colours

HueGrab groups similar shades together, so you get the colours that make up the picture rather than random pixels.

  • HEX and RGB

Every swatch shows its HEX code and RGB values. Click it to copy the HEX code.

  • Copy as a list or CSS

Copy all HEX codes in one go, or as CSS variables (--color-1, --color-2 and so on) ready to paste into a stylesheet.

  • Ordered by share

Colours are sorted by how much of the picture they cover, with the percentage shown on each swatch.

  • Ignores see-through areas

Transparent parts of a PNG are skipped, so a logo's palette isn't filled with empty background.

How do I get the HEX code of a colour in an image?

Drop the picture, choose how many colours you want and click the swatch you need. Its HEX code is copied, ready to paste.

Can I copy RGB values?

Each swatch shows its RGB values for you to read off. The copy buttons give HEX codes, one at a time, as a list, or as CSS variables.
