What is VoxBox?

VoxBox is a free online voice recorder. Allow your microphone, press Start recording and talk; a timer and a live level meter show it is working. Press Stop to listen back, then save the recording as an MP3 that plays on any phone, computer or app.

It is made for voice. Echo cancellation and noise suppression are switched on, so speech comes through clearly on a laptop or phone mic. Use it for voice notes, interview answers, practising a talk, a quick podcast intro or a message for someone who would rather listen than read.

The recording is made by your browser and stays on your device; it is never uploaded. Free recordings can be up to 10 minutes long, and Pro allows up to 10 hours. Recording is free to try, and saving the file needs a free ToolClik account.

What you can do

  • One-tap recording

No setup or install. Allow the microphone once, then start and stop with a single button.

  • Save as MP3

Save your recording as a 128 kbps MP3, or download the original recording your browser made.

  • Clearer voice

Echo cancellation and noise suppression are on, which helps cut room echo and background hiss.

  • Listen before you save

Play the recording back on the page and see its length and size, then save it or record again.

  • Live level meter

A moving bar shows how loud your voice is, so you know the mic is picking you up.

  • Private by design

Your voice is recorded and kept in your browser. Nothing is streamed or uploaded.

How to use Voice Recorder

  1. Allow the microphone
  2. Hit record, then stop
  3. Save as MP3

Questions about Voice Recorder

Is this voice recorder free?

Yes. Recordings of up to 10 minutes are free, with no watermark or added sound. You save the recording with a free ToolClik account. Pro, at $1.29 a month, records for up to 10 hours.

What format is my recording saved in?

Save it as an MP3 at 128 kbps, which plays almost everywhere. You can also download the original recording your browser made (WebM in Chrome, Edge and Firefox).

Is my recording uploaded anywhere?

No. VoxBox records in your browser, on your own device. ToolClik never receives or stores your voice.

Can I use it on my phone?

Yes. VoxBox works in phone browsers such as Chrome and Safari. Allow microphone access when asked and keep the page open while you record.

Why can't it hear my microphone?

Your browser needs permission to use the mic. If you blocked it, allow the microphone from the icon in the address bar and try again, and check that the right mic is chosen in your device's sound settings.

What happens when I reach the 10-minute limit?

On Free, recording stops by itself at 10 minutes and you can still listen to and save what you recorded. Pro records for up to 10 hours.

Can I record my computer's sound or a call?

VoxBox records your microphone only. To capture the sound of a tab or your computer, use the free Screen Recorder, then turn the video into an MP3 with MP4 to MP3.
