What is PixBoost?

PixBoost is a free online image enhancer. Drop in a small or soft picture and it can upscale it 2× or 4×, smooth out noise, sharpen fine detail and lift dull colours. Compare before and after with a slider, then download. It runs in your web browser and adds no watermark.

PixBoost does not use AI. It upscales with Lanczos resampling, a careful maths method that stays much sharper than an ordinary resize, then cleans noise while keeping edges and sharpens only the brightness, so colours don't fringe. It makes pictures clearer, but it can't invent detail that was never in the photo.

Pick a preset for photos, old or blurry pictures, or text and screenshots, or set the sliders yourself. Everything happens on your device, so your picture is never uploaded. Saving the result needs a free ToolClik account.

What you can do

  • Upscale 2× or 4×

Increase image resolution with Lanczos resampling. Free goes to 2× and up to 4096 px; Pro goes to 4× and up to 8192 px.

  • Noise clean-up that keeps edges

An edge-preserving filter smooths grain from low light and heavy compression without smearing outlines.

  • Sharper detail without halos

Sharpening works on brightness only, skips faint grain and holds back the bright halos that cheap sharpening leaves.

  • Auto contrast and colour boost

Gentle auto levels, local contrast and a colour boost bring flat photos back to life. Switch them off for screenshots.

  • Before and after slider

Drag the slider across the picture and zoom to actual pixels to check every change before you save.

  • Presets for the job

Auto, Photo, Old or blurry, and Text & screenshots. Each one sets the upscale and sliders, which you can still adjust.

How to use Image Enhancer

  1. Drop a picture
  2. Pick a preset and the upscale size
  3. Compare, then download

Good for

  • Making a small picture big enough to print or use on a website
  • Cleaning up a grainy photo taken in low light
  • Sharpening a soft screenshot or a photo of a page so the text is easier to read
  • Giving an old, faded scan more contrast and colour

Questions about Image Enhancer

Is the image enhancer free?

Yes. 2× upscaling up to 4096 px and every preset and slider are free, with no watermark. Saving needs a free ToolClik account. Pro, at $1.29 a month, adds 4× upscaling and results up to 8192 px.

Does PixBoost use AI?

No. It uses Lanczos resampling, noise reduction and sharpening, all worked out in your browser. That makes soft pictures clearer, but it can't rebuild faces or detail that isn't in the photo.

Can it fix a very blurry photo?

It helps most with pictures that are small, a little soft or grainy. A photo that is badly out of focus or shaken will look cleaner, but it won't become truly sharp.

How big can the enhanced image be?

Free results go up to 4096 px on the long side, Pro up to 8192 px. Results are also kept under about 16 megapixels so they fit in your browser's memory.

Are my pictures uploaded?

No. PixBoost does all its work in your browser on your own device. Your picture is never sent to ToolClik.

Which formats does it take?

Open JPG, PNG or WEBP pictures up to 50 MB on Free, and save the result as JPG, PNG or WEBP. Safari can't make WEBP files, so there it offers JPG and PNG.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes, in phone browsers such as Chrome and Safari. Big 4× upscales take a lot of memory and time, so they run faster on a computer.
