What is PDFSqueeze?

PDFSqueeze is a free online PDF compressor that works in your web browser. Drop in a PDF, choose Light, Medium or Strong, and it makes the file smaller by re-drawing each page at a lighter quality. You see how much it saved before you download, and no watermark is ever added.

It works best on scanned documents and image-heavy PDFs, the files that are too big to email or upload to a form. Tick “Black & white” to reduce the PDF size even more. Because pages are re-drawn as images, text in the compressed file can't be selected afterwards.

Your PDF never leaves your computer. It is compressed by your browser, and the smaller file stays on your device until you save it. If a file can't get any smaller, PDFSqueeze says so and leaves your original untouched.

What you can do

  • Three compression levels

Light keeps small print sharpest, Strong makes the smallest file, and Medium sits in between.

  • Black & white option

Turn pages grey to shrink colour scans even further, ideal for forms and letters.

  • See the saving first

PDFSqueeze shows the old size, the new size and the percentage saved before you download.

  • Never makes it bigger

If a PDF is already as small as it can get, PDFSqueeze tells you and keeps your original as it is.

  • Private and watermark-free

Compression runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, and no logo is stamped on your pages.

Questions about Compress PDF

Is this PDF compressor free?

Yes. Free compresses PDFs of up to 20 pages and 50 MB, with no watermark. You save the smaller file with a free ToolClik account. Pro, at $1.29 a month, has no page limit and takes files up to 2 GB.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. PDFSqueeze compresses your file inside your browser. ToolClik never receives or stores it.

How much smaller will my PDF get?

It depends on the file. Scans and image-heavy PDFs often shrink a lot, while text-only PDFs that are already small may not shrink at all. The tool shows the exact saving before you download.

Will I still be able to select the text?

No. PDFSqueeze re-draws each page as an image, so text can't be selected or searched afterwards. For text you need to copy, keep the original too.

Which compression level should I pick?

Start with Medium. Use Light if small print looks soft, and Strong if the file still needs to be smaller.

Can I compress a PDF on my phone?

Yes. PDFSqueeze works in mobile browsers on iPhone and Android. Large files are faster on a computer.
