What is FrameSnap?

FrameSnap is a free video screenshot tool for pulling sharp stills out of a video. Drop in an MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV or M4V file, pause where you want, and click Grab this frame. Each still is saved at the video's full resolution, so a 4K video gives you a 4K image.

Pausing a player and pressing Print Screen often catches a soft, cropped picture with the controls on top. FrameSnap saves the frame itself. Step frame by frame to land on the exact moment, choose PNG for the sharpest picture or JPG for a smaller file, and grab as many frames as you like.

Everything stays in your browser and the video is never uploaded. Download one still, or get them all at once in a ZIP, with the moment each frame came from in its file name. Saving needs a free ToolClik account.

What you can do

  • Full-resolution stills

Every frame is saved at the same size as the video, with no player controls or borders.

  • Frame-by-frame stepping

Use the Frame buttons to move back or forward a tiny step at a time and catch the exact moment.

  • PNG or JPG

PNG keeps every pixel for the sharpest result. JPG is saved at high quality and makes a smaller file.

  • Unlimited grabs, one ZIP

Grab as many frames as you want, remove the ones you don't need, and download the rest together in a ZIP.

  • Time in the file name

Each image is named after the video and the second it came from, so they stay in order.

How to use Video Screenshot

  1. Drop a video

Questions about Video Screenshot

Is this video screenshot tool free?

Yes. You can grab as many frames as you like for free, from videos up to 50 MB, with no watermark. You save the images with a free ToolClik account. Pro, at $1.29 a month, opens videos up to 2 GB.

What quality are the screenshots?

Each still is the same size as the video, so a 1080p video gives a 1920×1080 image. PNG keeps the frame exactly; JPG is a little smaller and still high quality.

Which video formats work?

MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV and M4V, as long as your browser can play the video. MP4 is the safest choice.

Can it grab a frame every few seconds automatically?

Not yet. For now you pick each frame yourself; grabbing a frame every few seconds automatically is planned for Pro.

Is my video uploaded?

No. FrameSnap plays the video and saves the frames in your browser, on your own device. Nothing is sent to ToolClik.

Can I take a screenshot from a video on my phone?

Yes. FrameSnap runs in phone browsers such as Chrome and Safari. Pause the video, tap Grab this frame, then save the image.
