What is Numberly?
Numberly is a free online tool to add page numbers to a PDF in your web browser. Drop in a PDF, choose where the numbers go and how they look, and download a numbered copy. There is nothing to install, and no watermark is ever added.
Pick 1, Page 1, 1 / 9 or Page 1 of 9, place the numbers bottom left, centre or right, or top right, and choose small, normal or large text. You can start counting from any number and skip the cover page, which is handy for reports and theses.
Your PDF never leaves your computer. The numbers are added by your browser, and the file stays on your device until you download it. You can preview the numbered pages first and try another style if it doesn't look right.
What you can do
Four number styles
Plain 1, Page 1, 1 / 9 or Page 1 of 9, in a clean, dark font that suits any document.
Four positions
Bottom left, bottom centre, bottom right or top right, with a neat margin from the edge.
Start anywhere
Begin at 1, 0 or any other number, for example to carry on from a previous document.
Skip the cover page
Leave the first page blank and start numbering on page two.
Preview, private, no watermark
