What is GIFit?
GIFit is a free video to GIF converter that runs in your browser. Drop in an MP4, MOV, WebM or M4V clip, slide to the moment you want, set how long the GIF should be, and GIFit turns it into a looping animated GIF. Every GIF comes out clean, with no watermark.
You control the size. Choose 6, 10 or 15 frames per second for smaller or smoother GIFs, and a width of 320 or 480 pixels on Free, or 640 and 800 pixels with Pro. Free GIFs can be up to 8 seconds long; Pro allows up to 30 seconds.
The frames are captured and turned into a GIF on your own device, so the video is never uploaded. Check the finished GIF on the page, then save it with a free ToolClik account and share it in a chat, a slide, a bug report or a post.
What you can do
Pick the exact moment
Drag the Start slider and the preview jumps there. Set the length in half-second steps.
Choose the smoothness
6, 10 or 15 frames per second. Fewer frames make a smaller file; more make the motion smoother.
Choose the width
320 or 480 pixels on Free, 640 or 800 on Pro. The height follows the shape of your video, and the GIF is never made wider than the video itself.
No watermark
Your GIF has no logo or text added, on Free or on Pro.
See it before you save
The finished GIF plays on the page with its file size, so you can adjust and remake it if needed.

Questions about Video to GIF
Is this video to GIF converter free?
Yes. Free makes GIFs up to 8 seconds long and 480 pixels wide from videos up to 50 MB, with no watermark. You save the GIF with a free ToolClik account. Pro, at $1.29 a month, makes GIFs up to 30 seconds and 800 pixels wide from videos up to 2 GB.
Which video formats can I turn into a GIF?
MP4, MOV, WebM and M4V, as long as your browser can play the video. MP4 is the safest choice.
Does the GIF have sound?
No. The GIF format can't hold sound, so GIFit saves the picture only. To keep a clip's sound, use the free MP4 to MP3 tool.
How do I make my GIF smaller?
Choose a lower frame rate, a smaller width or a shorter length. Each one cuts the file size, and clips with lots of movement make bigger GIFs than calm ones.
Is my video uploaded?
No. GIFit reads the video and builds the GIF in your browser, on your own device. Nothing is sent to ToolClik.
Can I make a GIF on my phone?
Yes. GIFit runs in phone browsers such as Chrome and Safari. Making a GIF takes some memory, so short clips work best on a phone.
